AGNES ZIESMER

Agnes Grace (DeJong) Ziesmer, of Ogilvie, died on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the Elim Home in Milaca, MN.  She was 86 years old.

Agnes was born on August 2, 1936 in Mora, MN to John and Dora (Dykstra) DeJong.  She grew up on a farm in the Ogilvie area.  Agnes worked at Kanabec County Public Health as a Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide for most of her life.

In 1957 she married Leonard Robyn.  She was blessed with four sons, Neal, Silas, James “Jim” and Byron.  They ran a dairy farm in Ogilvie for many years. They divorced in 1976.  Agnes was married to Allen “Al” Ziesmer in 1980 and gained his son Freddy to the family.  In the mid 90’s they moved to the Ann Lake area where she spent her remaining years before entering the Elim Home in Milaca.  Al passed away in November of 2021. 

Agnes always said the two most precious things that inspired her life were God and family.  She was a very strong and devout Christian woman whose faith and love of God was steadfast.  She was an active member in her church and was always sharing God’s love. She knew that God had led her through many struggles and trials and her faith never wavered.

Agnes loved gardening, cooking, baking, listening to country and gospel music, reading her bible, watching birds, and fishing.  She and Al took many fishing trips to Canada and one to Alaska.  She loved hosting fish frys and had good times playing cards with friends and at gatherings with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Agnes’ favorite times were spent with Al, enjoying coffee and ice cream.  She will be missed.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband Allen; siblings, John DeJong Jr, Everett DeJong, Theresa Zylstra, Sophie Hoekstra, and Grace Howard; grandchildren, Alyssa, Tanya, and Ryan Robyn.

She is survived by her sons, Neal (Kay) Robyn, Silas Robyn, James "Jim" Robyn, and Byron (Denise) Robyn; stepson Fred (Marsie) Ziesmer; grandchildren, Derek, Brianna, Matthew, Andrew, Ramanda, Renita, Dexter, Carly, Melissa, Lisa, Danny, Troy, and Ashley; many great-grandchildren; brother Richard DeJong; many other relatives and dear friends.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Hamilton Funeral Homes-Akkerman Chapel in Mora with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating.

A MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held from 10:30 -11:00 am on Friday.

INURNMENT will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
