ALVERA POSEY

Alvera Elsie (Althoff) Posey, of Mora, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026.  She was 88 years old.

Alvera was born on August 2, 1937, in Mora, Minnesota to parents Theodore Emil and Mary Louise (Elling) Althoff.  She was a graduate of Mora High School class of 1955.  On March 19, 1960, Alvera married William Joseph Posey at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mora.  After living in Gettysburg, South Dakota and Cavalier, North Dakota for a while, they settled down in Mora to raise their children; Myron, Dean, and Jill.

Alvera and the family attended Zion Lutheran Church, and she was an active member; serving as the Women of Zion President for 7 years and also serving on various other committees.

Alvera worked at Farmers Co-op Creamery, Land O’Lakes Feed Mill, and Stahlke’s Department store until retiring in 1998.  Along with being a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma; she enjoyed 22 years of square dancing with Bill and all their friends.  She also enjoyed volunteering at the One More Time Store, going to Half Hour Fitness, and swimming with her friends on Thursdays.

Alvera was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill; son Myron; siblings Darlene Pearson, Marcus Althoff, Roger Althoff, and Gordon Althoff.

Alvera will be sadly missed by her son Dean (Karen) Posey; daughter Jill (Jay) Gratzek; granddaughter Jackie (Dustin) Patterson; grandson Jared (Heather) Gratzek; great grandchildren Willa, Riker, Maeve; siblings, Arnold (Diane) Althoff, JoAnn Breska, Robert (Kris) Althoff;  sisters-in-law, Janet Althoff and Darlene “Dolly” Posey; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, AUGUST 22, 2026 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mora with Pastor Anthony Cloose officiating.

Memorial Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

A Luncheon will follow the services at the church.

Inurnment will be held at 1:00 pm at the Riverside Cemetery in Brunswick.
