Ardell “Bill” William Diessner, passed away peacefully at his home in Mora, MN on March 27, 2021. He was 97 years old.
Bill was born on July 28, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents William and Adela (Hedtke) Diessner. Bill made the world a better place as a Doctor of Medicine and Psychiatry, State Senator, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. A true humanitarian, Bill was always willing to help others and put their needs before his own. As a Captain in the Army, he served his country in Korea as a Dr. in the 1st MASH unit. Bill donated his body to the U of M medical school to pay forward training he received as a young medical student there. Bill will be deeply missed.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Sheila.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of Mora; children and step-children, Cynthia Muehlbach, Karin Lynn Burd, Anne Marie Valentine, Sally Jo Shariatpanahi, Debra Jean Ritchie, Mark Diessner, Stacy Schmidt, Darcy Werner, Sam Harman, Michael Harman, Ruthanne Harman, and Jesse Harman; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora with Pastor Deb Schaffran officiating.
Military Honors will be provided by the Mora American Legion Post 201.
