BETTY JO LUCAS

Betty Jo (Lakeberg) Lucas, of Mora, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at home with family by her side.  She was 60 years old.

Betty was born on September 10, 1964, in Braham, Minnesota to parents Willmer and Lorraine (Olson) Lakeberg. She was raised on a farm in Stanchfield, the youngest of five children.  She was baptized and confirmed at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church.  She graduated from Braham High School in the Class of 1983 and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business from Concordia St. Paul.

Her entire 40-year career was spent working for the state of Minnesota in various sectors, ending with Assistant Office Director for the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

In September 2005 she married Michael Lucas, resulting in her getting to enjoy not only Mike but being Grandma Betty to seven grandchildren.  Betty and Mike enjoyed their time at their home on the lake.  She also loved taking trips and vacations with Mike, family, and friends.  Her beloved dogs Putz and Rascal were also one of her joys.

Betty was the kindest, most welcoming person one could ever know.  She was always a source of joy and support to family and friends.  Betty will be deeply missed by all she crossed paths with.

She was preceded in death by her parents: father and mother in-law, Robert and Jane Lucas; sister and brother-in-law, Jill Karen and David Bennett.

Betty is survived by her husband Michael; children, Brock Lucas (Samantha Haring) and Alicia (Thomas Mason) Walsh; grandchildren, Owen, Henry, Evan, Ella, JJ, Mac, and Ceci; siblings, Louise (Loren) Nelson, Michael (Susan) Lakeberg, Mary Lou Lakeberg, and Robert (Cindy) Lakeberg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deborah Bennett, Robert Matthew (Janie) Lucas, John (Christina) Lucas, and Jim (Lisa) Lucas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Betty will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at the Braham Event Center with Rev. Dr. Suzanne Begin officiating.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm on Sunday at the Braham Event Center.

Graveside Service and Inurnment at the Rice Lake Cemetery in Braham.

All are invited for a meal following the services at the Braham Event Center.
