Beverly Jean Marie Peterson, age 88, passed away April 15, 2025.
Beverly was born in Sandstone, MN to Clifford and Emma Gagnon. After graduating from Sandstone High School, Beverly attended St. Catherine’s College and received her RN Degree. Beverly was married and moved to Hinckley where she raised her seven children. Beverly worked as an RN at Kanabec County Hospital and the Hinckley Clinic. Beverly dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. Beverly prided herself on the care and compassion she had for her patients. In 1986 Beverly married Dr. Alvin Peterson where they spent their winters in Lake Wales, FL enjoying golfing and socializing. In the summers, they spent their time at the cabin on Mille Lacs Lake enjoying fishing, golfing and time with family and friends, especially her annual birthday celebration. In 2014 Beverly met her dear friend John Akkerman. They shared many fond memories painting, visiting their favorite restaurants, gaming and playing cards. Beverly enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, making Baptismal gowns for her grandchildren, making jewelry and painting.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Cliff.
Beverly is survived by her children: Mike (Kathleen) of Hastings, MN, Lynelle (Don) of Orlando, FL, Pam (Barry) of Seffner, FL, Debbie (Mark) of Sioux Falls, SD, Julie (Jon) of Jonesboro, IL, Cheryl (Mike) of Hinckley, MN and Mary Beth (Jerry) of McGregor, MN. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren: Jacob, Katelynn, Morgan, Brittney, Michele, David, Melissa, Elizabeth, Alexandra, Samantha, Mackenzie, Adam, Patrick, Brock, Christina, Kennedie and Jackson; 14 great grandchildren: Maxwell, Ella, Peyton, Mickey, Honey, Benjamin, Leah, Luke, Paul, Brianna, Roland, Raegan, Brooklyn and Remi. Beverly is survived by her dear friend John Akkerman, siblings Shirley (Graham) and Tom (Lori).
Beverly’s warmth, creativity and the love of her family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 201 Forest Ave. E., Mora, MN on Saturday, April 26th at 10:30 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
NO Visitation will be held.
Inurnment will be held at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date.
