BRADLEY NIKODYM Obituary

Bradley Wade Nikodym, of Mora, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at his home.  He was 63 years old.

Brad was born on January 28, 1960, in Mora, Minnesota, to parents Robert and Beverly (Mattson) Nikodym.  As a child, he was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran church. While attending Mora High School, he was an integral part of a successful wrestling team. He was awarded several medals for winning competitions in his weight class and always competed at a high level. He graduated high school in 1978.  After high school, Brad continued to pursue a higher level of education at the University of Minnesota. He successfully received a bachelor’s degree in business in 1982.  Brad's professional career started in the banking industry. He worked at several banks and held various personal banking positions. Following his successful time in banking, Brad began to pursue a career in real estate where he was able to combine his experience in the finance world with his passion for helping people to build out his real estate career. But his most important and rewarding job was being a stay-at-home dad, caring for his children, Laura and Anthony. He encouraged and supported his kids in all their endeavors, which included being Anthony's wrestling coach and running support, as well as Laura's gymnastics cheerleader and taxi driver. His love for his family continued with the birth of his grandson Eduardo in 2018. Despite the distance between them (FL to MN), Brad always stayed connected with regular FaceTime calls, sending random gifts, and sharing cooking wisdom when he could visit.

Family was the center of Brad’s life, and his most cherished times were those spent at the family cabin on Farm Island Lake. Throughout the year, weekends were spent fishing, boating, waterskiing, and pulling a tube full of kids around the lake. Even during the frigid winter months, the Nikodyms enjoyed ice fishing and snowmobiling.

In his younger years, Brad enjoyed duck and goose hunting with his brothers and close friends. He also had a big passion for deer hunting and rarely missed spending a season with others at the deer shack near Duluth. Other hobbies of Brad's included running marathons throughout the country, watching movies and reality tv shows, cheering on the Vikings, and extensive culinary cooking.

Brad will always be remembered for his kind, warm-hearted, and generous spirit.  He will be dearly missed.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents, son Anthony, brother David, sister Mary McCormick, sisters-in-law, Becky and Marilyn.

He is survived by his daughter Laura (Eddie) Baquero; grandson Eduardo Baquero; brothers, Greg and Kevin; brother-in-law Casey McCormick; nieces and nephews, Matthew (Leah), Brianna (Nathan), Barrett, Amy (Nick), Jenna (Keith), Regan, Keefe, and Erin along with their families; many other relatives and friends.
