It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Brent Althoff, who joined his heavenly family on July 19, 2025, at Sholom Hospice in St. Paul, MN, from Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer). He was 45 years old.
Brent was born at Kanabec Hospital on January 9, 1980, to Gordon and Marlene (Olson) Althoff. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora, MN.
After graduating from Mora High School, Brent pursued various career interests. He found his perfect place when he joined the Farmington Fire Department. He was a natural leader and enjoyed mentoring fellow firefighters while always prioritizing his service to the Farmington community. Shortly after joining the Farmington Fire Department, he received an offer to join MedTrainer as the Director of Medical Credentialing, there all of his passions collided. He led and mentored a team in Mexico and found it fulfilling to see the team’s growth and career advancement. He was energized by the balance between his career life and firefighter life, while always making time for his family and friends.
Beyond his professional life, Brent had a passion for sand and indoor volleyball; if there were a net and a ball, he would join in. His passion for Minnesota sports, specifically the Minnesota Timberwolves, was something he was known for. Through thick and thin, he wouldn’t miss a game. Brent’s true love in life was his dogs, Rocky, Bella, and Flip; they motivated him to be the best version of himself.
Brent’s legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unwavering strength. He will be remembered for his one-of-a-kind personality and smile. His energy and willingness to serve others will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his dogs, Rocky and Bella, and his parents, Gordon and Marlene.
He is survived by his dog, Flip, his sister, Julie (Cody) Metz, as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Rest in peace, Brent.
