CELESTINE GLIDDEN Obituary

Celestine Beverly Glidden, of Grasston, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, after battling cancer for several years.  She was 50 years old.

Celestine was born on April 3, 1975, in Mora, Minnesota to parents Vincent and Beverly (Prahl) Glidden.  When she was 7, her father joined the Military, so she spent most of her school years in Texas and Germany before graduating from Minnetonka High School in 1993.  She started college in Texas but soon transferred to Hawaii where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She continued her education at the U of M Mankato campus, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Celestine started her career in nursing with a few years in Sandstone and the Brainerd State Hospital before finding her home at the Cambridge Medical Center where she specialized in mental health and addiction.  She enjoyed over 14 years there, even being able to work side by side with her dad for a few years before her declining health forced her to step back from the work she loved so much.

Celestine took on the caretaker role for her beloved grandma Betty Prahl until her passing in 2011 and was so proud to be able to purchase her farm and make a home for herself there.

After reconnecting with a longtime friend Jim Cadman, Celestine and Jim were united in marriage on June 2, 2023, at the Open Arms Church in Grasston.

Celestine was an active member at Open Arms and took part in numerous activities, including helping in the kitchen whenever possible.  She loved the outdoors and spending a sunny day on the boat fishing.  She had a deep love for animals and had many beloved dogs and cats over the years.  She loved her family and friends and was “Auntie C” to many.  She will be forever remembered for her strength, deep care and compassion for all, and her adventurous and adaptive spirit.  She will be missed.

Celestine was preceded in death by her mother Beverly Glidden and brother Toivo Glidden.

She is survived by her husband James Cadman; father Vincent (Darlyn) Glidden; stepchildren, Jamie Cadman, Chrystal Cadman, Orletta (Andrew) Mayotte, and Jeff Cadman; step-grandchildren, Sean, Marie, Tyrion, and Carter; step siblings, Charlie Blackbird and Amy Blackbird; step-niece and nephew, Evelyn and Liam; many other relatives and friends.
