CLAUDIA FRIDSTROM Obituary

Claudia E. Fridstrom, of Mora, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Welia Health in Mora.  She was 76 years old.

Claudia Eileen was born to Roman and Alta (Wilson) Miller on November 29, 1947 in Mora, Minnesota.  She attended Mora public schools and was active in band, choir, and theater.  She graduated in the class of 1965.  Afterward, she attended Minnesota School of Business until March ‘66 when she became ill with Rheumatic Fever.

On September 17, 1966, Claudia married John C. Fridstrom and they moved to Cambridge.  Five years later, they bought John’s home place and moved back to Mora where she raised three sons, Adam (1967), Alan (1969), and Guy (1970).  In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as an office professional and an agent in the Roman Miller Insurance Agency.

Claudia was an active volunteer working more than 10 years with the Boy Scouts and 30+ years with the 4-H shooting sports program.  As a leader, she was awarded Scouter of the Year by the Central Minnesota District.  After scouting, she worked with youth as a shotgun instructor/trainer.  She coached local and state teams to compete in Trap and Skeet shooting competitions including the national championships.  In 2023, she was inducted into the Minnesota Shooting Sports and Wildlife Hall of Fame.

In 2004, Claudia and John started Fridstrom Firearms Instruction, LLC to conduct formal training for NRA instructor certification, concealed carry permits, and beginner firearm safety training.  She was also a shotgun instructor for “Becoming an Outdoor Woman” workshops across the state.  She was a better than average clay target shooter, a great deer hunter, and passionate about firearm safety for women and youth.

Claudia was devout in her faith and active in the Fish Lake Chapel until her health declined in 2020.  She loved music and enjoyed singing in the adult choir.   She took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and prayed for them often.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Michael Miller.

She is survived by John, her husband of 58 years; sons, Adam (Karen), Alan and Guy (Ruth); 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Diane Miller; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
