CLIFFORD PLADSEN

Clifford James Pladsen of Ogilvie, MN, passed away at home with his wife and family at his side at the age of 82 on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Cliff (Sonny), along with his wife, lived on their dairy farm for 60 years, raising the family, milking cows, and farming the land for 35 of those years. Cliff was a dedicated worker.

Cliff has always enjoyed the outdoors and the beauty of God's nature. 

Along with farming, he was also involved in horse organizations. He started Pladsen Oak Island Arena. Cliff built a horse arena on our property where he held horse shows and games. After several summers of those fun events, he wanted to explore more, so he founded the National Association of Competitive Mounted Orienteering (NACMO), a competitive horse sport. In 1990, Cliff sold this organization to a man in the state of Washington. This sport is still active this day all over the United States. 

Cliff also enjoyed camping with the family and our horses, fishing, canoeing, and Bible studies, as he was also a member of the True Vine Lutheran Church. 

When Cliff sold the dairy cows, he transformed the barn into a woodshop, and he made all kinds of beautiful furniture and woodwork. Since Cliff loves the Lord, he loved to share the Word of God, so with every piece of furniture and woodworking art he created, he intertwined it with a story taken from scripture, which he used to teach others about the love of Jesus. Cliff found fulfillment in sharing knowledge and educating others. 

Cliff's favorite Bible verse was John 3:16.

Cliff loved life and was thankful and joyful to the Lord for each new day.

Clifford is survived by his wife, Verna, their children, Loren, Roxie, Cindy, and Valory. His sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

In keeping with Cliff’s wishes, no services will be held.
