COLLEEN HENDERSHOT Obituary

Colleen Ruth Hendershot of Mora died on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the St. Clare Rehabilitation Center after a courageous battle with Central Nervous System Lymphoma. She was 74 years old.

The daughter of Alfred " Pete" and Lorraine (Telander) Hendershot was born on December 29, 1951, at Mora. She first attended country school before going to Fairview and Mora High School, graduating in 1969.

She worked in the newspaper industry for many years, starting at age 16 working at B & W Printers/Advertiser, Kanabec County Times and then later at the Scotsman/Isanti County News and the corporate office of ECM Publishers. She also was the administrative assistant for the Mora United Methodist Church for several years before her retirement in 2021.

She was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Brunswick and served on the council for many years before her illness and she had to step down. She also helped with the bulletins, newsletters and website management. She loved fishing, indoor and outdoor gardening, painting, camping, baking, playing games and music. She loved to play piano and guitar and sing, often performing at weddings and funerals. She also taught piano and guitar lessons.  As a giving person, Colleen’s final act of kindness was through donation to the University of Minnesota anatomy bequest program.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Mark, sister Erin and many other relatives.

She is survived by her daughter Alayne (Tim) Torgeson, granddaughter Marisa (Mason) Swedeen, bonus daughter Amber (Tim) Kosel, grandsons Tyler and Ryan, brother Reid (Gail) Hendershot, uncle Jim (Lani) Telander, significant other Marty Runquist, and many other family members and friends.


A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Hamilton Funeral Homes - Akkerman Chapel in Mora. 

To celebrate Colleen, Please wear her favorite color green, or your cancer support T-shirts to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice or Kick Cancer to the Curb. 

All are invited for continued fellowship at the Crystal Bar & Grill with food and drinks at your expense

 A private Inurnment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
