CONNIE SCHMAKEL

It is with the deepest of sorrow that the family of, Connie Kay Schmakel, age 56, announces that Connie passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2022 at her home in Stanchfield, MN.

Connie was born on September 6, 1965 in Braham, Minnesota to William and Carol Schmakel. The youngest and dare I say most stubborn of the Schmakel children. She spent her childhood on the Schmakel farm, helping her dad out in the fields and mom in the kitchen. Her love for the outdoors, family and animals only grew from here.

Connie loved and provided with her whole heart. This was evident in her love for her grandchildren, children, as well as in her caring and nurturing soul in her career of Home Health Aid. Anyone that knew Connie, knew that she loved to smile, laugh and always put her loved ones first.

Connie’s favorite pastimes were spent outside in the dirt of her gardens, riding four-wheeler, having bonfires at her sister’s house, sewing, reading, mastering her new self taught skill of crotchet and her annual birthday trips with her daughter.

She was a mom, a best friend, a nana, a sister (both by blood and through choice) and she will be missed deeply.

Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her children; Crystal Campbell and Carrie (Drew) Nybeck, her beloved 3 grandchildren; Riley, Hunter and Liam, her siblings; Robert and Christy as well as numerous friends and extended family.

Connie is preceded by her parents her grandparents; Charlie and Tillie, her parents; William and Carol, her aunt, Janice; her brother; Larry, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Celebration of Connie's Life will be held from 1:00-5:00 pm on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at her home (51795 Basswood Road W. - Stanchfield, MN 55080)
