DANA FLUEGGE

Dana Andrea Fluegge, of Mora, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2023 at her home.  She was 46 years old.

Dana was born in Mora, MN on October 22, 1976.  After a few moves, Dana and her mom settled in Mora.  She attended school in Mora until her sophomore year.  She graduated with honors from Ogilvie High School in 1995.  She worked different jobs until she had her children.  She stayed at home with her kids until they were all in school.   

Dana could fix anything and was always a frequent customer at Ace Hardware in Mora, so she decided to become an employee…it was a perfect fit.  She worked at Ace for 10+ years and during that time she became the “go to” person for her vast knowledge.  Her quick smile and unending wit endeared her to all. 

Even while working, Dana always found time to spend with her kids.  She attended all of their events as they grew.  They traveled to many places together.  She was always happiest when she was with her kids. 
She loved them dearly and was so proud of them all.

Dana was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma on January 25, 2023.  She fought a brave and determined battle against a terrible cancer.  With her family and close friends at her side, she took her place in heaven to spend eternity pain free and at peace.  She will be so greatly missed by many.

Dana will be remembered by all as a spunky, hard-working mom who loved her children above all else.  Until the time we meet again, she will always be our special angel.

Dana is preceded in death by her grandparents Steve and Ivy Lopicka, Martin and Andrea DeBoer, and Ben Akkerman; aunts Shelly DeBoer and RayeAnn DeBoer; uncle Adrian DeBoer; cousin Benjamin Akkerman; and mother-in-law Joan Fluegge 

Dana is survived by her parents Jeff and Denise Akkerman; children, Bohdi, Braden (Hailey Voge), Brinley and their father Tim Fluegge; grandson Milo James; sister Brenna Akkerman; brother Brandon (Kristen) Akkerman; nieces and nephews, London and Cameron, Liara and Axton; grandmother Blanche Akkerman; sisters and brother-in-law, Terri (Kevin), and Tabitha; special friends, Sarah and Heidi and their families; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mora with Pastor Anthony Cloose.

Memorial Visitation will be held 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mora and again 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

A Prayer Service will be held at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, during the visitation time at Zion.
