DANIEL H TRUMBLE

Daniel Howard Trumble, of Mora, MN, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023, surrounded by family at his home.  He was 62 years old.

Dan was born August 16, 1960, in Minneapolis, MN to Earle and Barb (Ruona) Trumble. He grew up in the family home in North Minneapolis, the fourth of five siblings, and attended St. Austin’s Catholic School. He moved to Colorado at 16 where he became an avid downhill skier.  He returned to Minneapolis and graduated in 1978 from Patrick Henry High School.  His dream was to become a structural engineer.  He attended the U of M and was nearly finished when he followed his father to Alaska in 1981.  

From his first marriage, he was blessed with two sons, Daniel and Douglas. While working in construction for CE2 Engineers, he spent years working in villages in bush AK.  He later married Cheryl Joy Nies on August 7, 2009, in Anchorage. He spent many happy weekends camping with his sons, wife and friends. 

Dan was a complete sports enthusiast, loving basketball, golf, camping, hunting, fishing, downhill and cross-country skiing and spending time outdoors where they enjoyed the beauty of Alaska until 2014 when they returned to MN.  For his entire life he was an avid fan of all professional sports, including his beloved (and often disappointing) Vikings.  He was reunited with many old friends and was so happy to be “back home.”  Dan and Cheryl settled in Mora in 2018 with his sister Lisa. He was employed at Marcus Construction as Field Superintendent until 2022. 

Dan courageously fought pancreatic cancer for 7 months.  He will be truly missed by his close family, Alaska coworkers, and friends from all over.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, son Daniel C., sister Cathy Coons, and brother-in-law Terry Deason.  

He is survived by his devoted wife Cheryl; loving son Doug, brother Andy Trumble and sisters Lisa Trumble and LuAnn Deason; step-mothers, Nancy Trumble, and Ruth Tubbs; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger Coons, Sandy (Roger) Morris, David Nies, and Paul Nies; and many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Hamilton Funeral Homes – Akkerman Chapel in Mora.   Pastor Kate Mensing will officiate.

A Memorial Visitation will be held 1/2 hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:30 am.
