DAVID BROEHL

David Michael Broehl of Mora passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at his home. He was 43 years old.

Dave Broehl was born on October 30, 1981, to Gary Broehl and Kristine (Graber) Bjornson in Mora, Minnesota. He grew up around the Mora area with his parents and brothers. He attended Ogilvie schools and later earned his GED. 

Dave welcomed his first son, Dillon, with his then fiancée, Barb, in March 2004. In 2010, he welcomed his daughter, Alyssa, into the world with Stephanie Gardner (Handy), and in 2022, he welcomed his second son, Ayden, into the world with Leanna Smith.

Dave was a hard worker. He held various jobs throughout his life, including mechanic at Jerry’s Auto, loader operator at Imperial Crushing, and multiple roles within Kanabec County. He also worked as a mechanic at Midwest Machinery (John Deere) and, most recently, as an operator at Blum’s gravel pit. Besides farming, you could find Dave working on something, mainly on vehicles and larger equipment, or fixing a motor or parts, always elbow-deep in grease and oil. Those were his true passions in life.

He loved having his kids help him on the farm, in the fields, and spending time with them. His children were his ultimate joy and purpose in life, and he took great pleasure in creating cherished memories, including magical trips to Disney World. His family will deeply miss him because he put his heart and soul into everything he did.

Dave is preceded in death by his grandparents, Arlin Broehl, Wesley & Dorothy Graber, stepmother Sandy, stepfather Tom Bjornson, and cousin Tony Broehl.

David is survived by his beloved children, Dillon, Alyssa, and Ayden; parents, Gary Broehl and Kristine Bjornson; brothers, Matt (Jamie) and Aaron; grandmother, Louise Broehl; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Hamilton Funeral Homes – Akkerman Chapel in Mora, MN.

A celebration of life to follow the gathering at Crow’s Nest, for friends and family to gather and share memories of Dave.
