Debra Lynn Huntley, of Mora, passed away after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Our Lady of Peace in St. Paul, MN. She was 69 years old.
Debra was born on May 11, 1953 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents Melvin and Joan (Carlson) Smith. She grew up in Prior Lake, graduating from Prior Lake High School in 1971. On May 1, 1972, Debra was united in marriage to Kenneth Huntley in Hawaii, where he was stationed in the Navy. They were blessed with the birth of their first daughter Jodi in 1973 and then Danyel in 1975. The family moved from Prior Lake to Ogilvie in 1976 but in 1986, they made a final move to their current home near Mora. Debra was a licensed independent real estate agent but also worked for Kanabec Publications in advertising sales for 24 years.
In her younger years, Debra and the family enjoyed raising horses and going to shows almost every weekend. As she grew older, Bass fishing with Ken on the local lakes became a favorite pastime. She and Ken also enjoyed numerous trips to Riviera Maya Mexico during the cold winters. Her favorite passion was growing and tending to her many flowers and gardens. She especially loved growing geranium and hibiscus plants. Debra enjoyed hosting get togethers any chance she could with family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Debra is preceded in death by her father Melvin Smith and daughter Jodi Lyn Huntley.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth, daughter Danyel Huntley (Tom Broquist); grandsons, Levi, Colter, and Hunter Salmonson; great grandson Waylon; mother Joan Libor; and brother Ralph Smith; as well as many other relatives and friends.
