DIANNE K SAARI

Dianne Kay Saari, of Cambridge, formerly of Mora, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the Elim Home in Milaca.  She was 79 years old.

Dianne was born on October 6, 1942 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota to parents Laverne and Leona (Nelson) Swanson.  She graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School in 1960.  At age 13, Dianne met Geoffrey “Jeff” Saari and following high school, Dianne and Jeff attended Augsburg College together.  Dianne graduated in 1964 with a degree in Nursing. Dianne and Jeff were united in marriage in 1963 and they were blessed with four children. Dianne started her nursing career in 1964 at the Kanabec Hospital in Mora.  She worked her way up from a registered nurse to the Director of Nursing before her retirement in 2008.  

Dianne had a strong faith in God and served several terms as president of Calvary Lutheran congregation, on other various church committees, and made countless meals with the ladies’ aide over the years. 

She was an avid reader throughout her life but had the habit of always reading the final chapter first, to makes sure she liked the ending before fully committing to the entire book.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Dianne is preceded in death by her parents, and husband Geoffrey "Jeff" Saari.

She is survived by her children, Michael, Steve (Karen), Janel and Kristin (Scott) Pasternak; grandchildren, Erin, Chad, Jasmine, Owen, Tanner, Alyssa and Hannah; great grandchildren, Nicole and Isaiah; brothers Curlin "Curly" (Carol) Swanson; sister Luann (Bill) Koetter; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A  Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora with Pastor Dean Oelfke officiating.  Memorial Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.  Cake and refreshments will be served following the service.
