Dorothy Helen (Jansen) Hagfors, of Stanchfield, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at her home. She was 92 years old.
Dorothy was born on February 26, 1933, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, to Lloyd and Myrtle (Bjork) Jansen. She was the oldest of four children and graduated from high school in Robbinsdale. Dorothy met and married Harold Hagfors. They first lived in the Twin Cities before moving to their farm in Stanchfield in 1969. Together, they raised five children: Rick, Ted, Tom, Will, and Mary Jo.
She devoted herself to raising her children and started the first mothers’ group in Fridley. After moving to the country, she worked in the office at the original Dennis Kirk in Rush City and co-owned Hagfors Electric. She was an active member of St. Phillips in Fridley and Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church. Dorothy also belonged to The Order of the Eastern Star, Job's Daughters International, Sons of Norway, and Meals on Wheels. She and Harold enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, and Norway, and camping with their children. Dorothy had a heartfelt passion for sewing, pouring her love into creating special outfits, doll clothes, and quilts for her daughter, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters. She not only made beautiful pieces but also shared her talent with the girls. Faith was central in her life, and she deeply loved her husband Harold, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 70 years, Harold, her brothers Edward and Charles, and her sister Carol.
She is survived by her children: Rick (Kim), Ted (Debi), Tom (Cheryl), Will (Cindy), and Mary Jo; 12 grandchildren: Kristen (Kevin), Adam (Jennifer), Ryan, Michael (Brittany), William Jr (Emeri), Tim, Jennifer (Joel), Laura (Matt), David (Dallas), Brian (Rikki), Marsha, and Michelle (Mike); 20 great-grandchildren: Andersen, Jensen, Blake, Reagan, Rhett, Scarlett, Jake, Nora, Bella, Liam, Alex, Elias, Ezra, Addison, Andrew, Lynnea, Easton, Lewis, Stetson, and Frankie; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Croix Hospice and Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church in honor of Dorothy's lifelong dedication.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Dr. Suzanne Begin officiating.
The service will also be live-streamed on the church's Facebook page.
Inurnment will take place at Rice Lake Cemetery in Braham.
