ERNEST ERICKSON Obituary

Ernest "Ernie" W. Erickson, of Mora, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in the home he built. He was 93 years old.

Ernie served in the Army after graduating from high school. He married his high school sweetheart Helen Kelley, April 17, 1953. After serving in the army Ernie attended Dunwoody College of Technology and received his associate degree in Carpentry.

Ernie used his carpentry expertise to build his own home along with the help of his wife and kids and friends. His craft shines through every faucet of his home and the buildings he erected around the home. One of his favorite hobbies was building bird houses. Through his artistic ability each bird house mimics the home he built. A treasure family and friends enjoy.

Ernie also enjoyed gardening. His green thumb was a delight and treat to everyone. His ability to put seed in the ground and bloom into something beautiful seemed magical.

Many of us knew Ernie as "The Great White Father." Mom dubbed him this title, and whenever we had an important question mom would say, “Ask The Great White Father." He always gave sound advice which was wise to follow.

Ernie was preceded in death by his wife Helen, son Gordon "Gordy" Erickson, and 8 siblings.

He is survived by his children Lisa Paquin, Scott (Rena) Erickson, and Joseph (Tamara) Erickson; many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and life long friend Cindy whom he considered a daughter.
