ESTHER OLSON

Esther Violet Olson, of Braham, Minnesota, went home to be with her Lord on November 14, 2023 at Cambridge Medical Center.  She was 93 years old.
 
Esther was born on May 6, 1930, in Athens Township, Isanti County, MN to Axel and Anna (Linde) Lindgren.  She was the youngest of four children.  Her three older brothers were Alfred, Axel and Harold. The family moved several times when she was growing up, but she attended Rush City High School and graduated from there in the class of 1948.  Upon graduation, Esther moved to Braham and took a job at the First National Bank of Braham.  She soon met another Braham resident, Herbert N. Olson, and the two were married on January 26, 1952.  The couple had two girls, Jeri Mae, and Mary Kay.  Herb worked for his brother, Ray, at the Ford garage in town.
 
Esther and Herb made their lives in Braham, both continuing the jobs they had and attending church at Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church.  The family bought Herb’s home place in 1967, so they moved to the farm west of Stanchfield, near Dalbo, MN. In their spare time and for vacations, Herb and Esther enjoyed camping and taking their travel trailer on adventures. 
 
Esther kept busy being a working wife and mother, but she also served in various roles at church.  She participated in the neighborhood group, the circle, she made baptismal napkins, worked on the quilting committee and served coffee after services.  She also volunteered her time at the Cambridge Medical Center Giftshop, Tusen Tack in Braham, and worked on the Braham Pie Day crew baking and serving pie in the park.
 
One thing Esther looked forward to each week was her Monday night bowling.  Braham Ford sponsored their team which included Judy Olson, Maxine Ahlstrom, Ellen Evenson, and others throughout the years, as they attended state and national competitions.  Esther continued bowling into her early 80s.

Esther enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She joined friends most days for morning coffee at The Park Cafe, until the last couple of years. She also spent time sewing, reading, playing games, and working crossword puzzles. 
 
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Axel and Anna Lindgren; Husband, Herbert N. Olson; Brothers Alfred (Norma) Lindgren, Harold (Jeanne) Lindgren, and Axel (Eileen) Lindgren.
 
Esther is survived by her children Jeri Frederick and Mary (Chris) Mitteness; grandson, Christopher (Nancy) Frederick; and three great-grandchildren, Caia Frederick, Drystan Frederick and Arrietty Frederick.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the Braham Event Center with Pastor Julie Beck officiating.

A VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service.

A LUNCHEON will immediately follow the service. 

PRIVATE FAMILY INURNMENT will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Dalbo, MN.
