Floyd M. Jensen, of Mora, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 91 years old.
Floyd was born May 17, 1931 on a farm in Brayton, Iowa to parents Jens P. and Elna (Hansen) Jensen. The Jensen family moved to a farm by Fish Lake in 1936, where Floyd lived until 1994.
He grew up on the family farm, the fifth of seven siblings and attended school in Mora. In 1951 he joined the Navy and served on the USS Orion. Floyd returned home to the family farm in 1955 and farmed until 1994. He married Marilyn Zellman on July 13, 1957. Floyd and Marilyn have two sons, Jim and Bob.
Besides farming he was on the Arthur Zoning commission, worked for a short time at Northern Woods, and worked for Gorham Oien. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Mora for over 65 years. In 1994 they sold the farm and moved to their home on Mille Lacs Lake in Isle. They lived there until 2000 when they returned to Mora. In 1997 they purchased their first house at Aladdin Villas in Mission, Texas where they spent many winters. Floyd was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mora where he had served as a trustee.
Floyd enjoyed being with his family and reminiscing. He enjoyed having coffee with the coffee guys uptown. Floyd also enjoyed lapidary, bowling, hunting and playing pool. Floyd enjoyed traveling with Marilyn and visited places including Texas, Alaska, Hawaii, and Aero, Denmark where he learned more about his family history. Floyd enjoyed many fishing trips with good friends and families.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Jens and Elna Jensen, sister Mabel (Neal) Eddy, brother Alvin (Dorothy) Jensen, Paul (LaVonne) Jensen, sister Thelma Johnson along with sister-in-law Lorraine (Orville) Kobberdahl.
He is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 65 years; sons Jim (Pam) of Chanhassen, Bob (Rita) of Mora; 5 grandchildren, Amanda (Reuben) Spinner, Kevin Jensen, Mark Jensen, Kayla Jensen and Jens Jensen; 2 great grandchildren, Scott and Sam Spinner; brother Norman (Doris) Jensen; sister Sonja (Archie) Zellman; brother-in-law Don Johnson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 3, 2023 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mora.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Military Honors will be provided by the Mora American Legion Post 201.
