Frances Claire Caron, of Braham, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at her home with her daughters and niece by her side. She was 93 years old.
Frances was born March 7, 1932, in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada, to Arthur and Adeline (Tremblay) Berlinquette. Frances was the fourth daughter of six children.
Frances emigrated to the United States in 1949. She settled in Minneapolis, where she met the love of her life, Laurence L. Caron. Larry owned Larry’s Pure Oil filling station. Frances and Larry found each other when she drove her 1957 Plymouth Belvedere convertible to the Pure Oil Station. Larry had his own convertible. They were married on October 18, 1958. Frances loved to dance the jitterbug! The dance floor cleared out for her and Larry many times.
Frances worked at McCarthy’s Supper Club in St Louis Park and helped Larry with the bookkeeping. They had three children and moved to East Bethel in 1969. Their desire to live in the country brought them to Braham in 1974. They managed the Kline Oil station in Braham together.
Fran worked at the Rock Garden bar in Pine City and Rush City VFWs. Frances was very proud to be a long-time volunteer at Tusen Tack during the inception of the Braham Event Center. Patrons to the thrift store would see her manning the register every Saturday for years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Catherine (Raymond) Portelance, Laura (Donald) Torrie, Valerie (Bill) Graham, and Joan (Peter) Moskalykher; brother Arthur Johnny Berlinquette; nephew Boiyce Landvik; and niece Sharon Graham.
Frances is survived by her three children: Michele, Valerie, and Larry (Debbie) Caron; grandsons: Nicholas (Michele) Raway, Ty Caron, and Ryan (Valerie) Steffen; step-grandchildren: Heather Overland, D.J. Raway, Jake Widen, and Andrew Widen; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
In keeping with wishes, no services to be held at this time.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans’ Cemetery in Little Falls.
