FRANCES KROSCHEL Obituary

Frances Amy (Dixon) Kroschel was welcomed into God's arms on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Timber Pines Assisted Living in Pine City. She was 90 years old.

Frances was born to Marvin and Eileen (Labrador) Dixon on July 24, 1935. She and her siblings moved to California with their mother before returning to live in the Snake River area of Kanabec County with their father and siblings. Fran graduated from McGrath High School in 1954. She had a beautiful voice and loved all types of music. Throughout her high school years, she sang in a trio and also performed with her sisters.

After high school, Fran worked for an insurance agency in Minneapolis while visiting the Kroschel area on weekends. There, she met and married Hugo Kroschel on January 21, 1955. Hugo built their home on the original Kroschel’s homestead next to his parents, Addie and Dora. Fran and Hugo were blessed with three sons: Richard, Wayne, and Stephen. They raised mink and beef cattle for approximately 40 years. In addition to helping on the farm, Fran worked part-time at Tobies & Cassidy’s restaurants and at the local Grand Casino.

Fran not only tended to a vast and beautiful garden but was also actively involved at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) and the church choir. After Hugo passed away in 2015, Fran moved from the farm to Mysa House, a senior living community in Mora. Later, she relocated to Timber Pines Senior Living in Pine City, where she lived until her passing.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hugo, her sisters Merel Kreft and Gail Herndon, and her grandson Raleigh Kroschel.

Her sons will dearly miss her: Rick (Liz) Kroschel, Wayne (Vicki) Kroschel, and Stephen Kroschel; her beloved grandchildren: Jessica (Casey) Fahey, Amber Cessna, Erika (Ryan) Aga, Ryan (Katie) Kroschel, and Garrett Kroschel; her cherished great-grandchildren: Kenidy Cessna, Ava Cessna, Abigail Cessna, Jovial Fahey, Neela Fahey, Rowan Fahey, Sam Aga, Ben Aga, Andy Aga, Charles Kroschel, and Miles Kroschel; brother Gene Dixon; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the kind, loving, and capable staff at Timber Pines and St. Croix Hospice for their exceptional care; you were a blessing to us.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 23, 2026, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kroschel (Hinckley), MN, with Pastor Anthony Cloose officiating.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
