HENRY "HANK" BOS Obituary

Henry “Hank” Peter Bos, of Mora, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 at home.  He was 84 years old.

Hank was born on April 6, 1938 in Ireton, IA to parents Gerrit and Johanna (Petersen) Bos.  He attended Ogilvie School through the 8th grade but was needed to help on the family farm milking the cows, as his older brothers left to join the military.  Later, Hank and his brother John, milked cows at another farm.

In 1959, Hank met Arlene Joyce Visser at a neighborhood barn building. After dating for a year, they were united in marriage on October 21, 1960 at the Ogilvie Christian Reformed Church.  From that point on, Hank and Arlene became inseparable for the next 59 years.  They made their home on Morrison Street in Mora for many years where Arlene ran her daycare.  Hank was employed as a welder at Boatel, making snowmobiles and pontoons.  He worked a short time at Ercoa, and then 25 years at CE Rogers in Mora until retirement.

In retirement, Hank and Arlene moved to the Ogilvie apartments for a few years, then to a farm next to their daughter Janet and her husband Rick’s home.  Later, they moved back to Mora to the Dala Apartments.  When Arlene’s health began to fail, she and Hank moved to Eastwood Senior Living.  They spent a few short months at the Elim Home in Milaca, and finally to St. Clares Living Community in Mora.  After Arlene passed, Hank moved into the farmhouse they lived at 20 years prior, next door to Janet and Rick.  Hank greatly enjoyed the animals on the farm especially the horse and donkey no one else could tame.

Hank enjoyed mowing the lawn, fishing, and camping.  But mostly he loved spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren.  He will always be remembered for his favorite saying, “hell you say” and “It’s your lucky day”.  He will be dearly missed.

Hank is preceded in death by his parents; wife Arlene; nine siblings and many other relatives.

He is survived by his daughter Janet (Rick) Martens; son Gerald (Dawn) Bos; grandchildren, Ryan Martens, Randi (Eric) Goeppinger, Amber (Kevin) Danielzuk, Nathan Knutson, Tanner (Emily) Bos, and Colin (Sam) Bos; 10 great grandchildren, Ella, Addison, Elin, Keira. Jordan, Max, Liam, Calan, Taite, and Reed and Anna; brothers Gerrit (Sylvia) Bos, and John (Elsie) Bos; sisters Margaret Bos, and Ruth (Jerry) Fenus; sisters and brothers-in-law Diann Bos, Beth Dalzen, George (Carolyn) Visser, Phyllis Visser, Kathy Visser, Theresa (Melvin) Schruer; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
