IRENE H. HOLLMAN

Irene Helen Hollman, of Mora, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the St. Clare Living Community in Mora surrounded by her loved ones.   She was 97 years old.

Irene was born on February 3, 1925 to parents George and Helen (Knute) Kenney in East Grand Forks, Minnesota.  The family moved to Minneapolis when Irene was about 1 ½ years old.  She attended school in St. Anthony through the eighth grade and graduated in 1943 from Sheridan High School in Minneapolis.

Irene was united in marriage to Harvey Hollman on February 3, 1945 in Minneapolis, MN and they enjoyed 37 years of marriage.  

Irene worked a few various jobs before she began her long career as a cook at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis in 1956.  She finally retired at 90 years old. 

Irene enjoyed bowling on a league and traveling across the country for tournaments in her younger years.   Bingo and playing slot machines were also a favorite pastime over the years. She enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Jamaica and the Bahamas.  Irene was a wonderful baker and always made her trademark banana bread.  She loved being with her family and feeding them at weekly Saturday night dinners. She will be dearly missed to all who knew and loved her.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harvey; siblings, Betty, George “Bud”, and Delores “Nan”; son-in-law Ralph Jenison.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 10 am - noon on Wednesday Sept 21, 2022 at the Hamilton Funeral Homes - Akkerman Chapel in Mora, MN.   
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 PM at the Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
