JAMES ANDERSON Obituary

James Lewis Anderson, of Mora, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 21, 2023.  He was 78 years old.

James was born on February 16, 1945 in Huron, South Dakota to parents Duane and Adelene Edith (Powell) Anderson. 

James served in the United States Army Reserves but was called up to active duty during the Vietnam War on August 15, 1970.  He was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in April of 1972.

Jim was united in marriage to Victoria “Vicki” (Grosklags) Masters on April 6, 1985.  He welcomed her four children into the family as his own. 

Jim spent most of careers as an attorney but spent his later years as a blackjack dealer at Grand Casino Hinckley. He enjoyed the connections he built with the players and his co-workers.  He will be dearly missed.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Victoria “Vicki”, brothers, Robert and William Anderson, and niece Lacey Ward.

He is survived by children, Mark Masters, Lisa Masters (Scott), James (Cathy) Masters, Geoff (Heidi) Masters; grandchildren, Drew Austin Masters, Reid Masters, Ashley (Jeremiah) Smith, Austin Lee Masters, and Drew Dahlberg; sister Judy Ward; sister-in-law Deborah Grosklags; niece and nephews, Kelly Schmierer, Andew Ward, Brady Ward, Brian Ward, and Billy Anderson; many other relatives and friends.

A private family graveside was held at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

Military Honors will be provided by the Mora American Legion Post 201.
