James William Simpson, of Mora, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at his home. He was 51 years old.
James was born on April 30, 1972 in Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents Richard and Linda (Dyer) Simpson. He moved around as a child, before settling in Mora as a teenager. He graduated from Mora High School in 1990. He moved to California with his cousins and attended college for a short time but eventually returned to Mora. He worked with his Dad, delivering yachts across the country for Bluewater in Mora for a few years. His love of cooking took him to the Crow’s Nest on Knife Lake, where he worked as the kitchen manager for 24 years. He also started Simpson & Sons RV Repair with his dad and brother Mike, which he has continued to run over the years. In the early 2010’s James began driving school bus part time for Mora School and in 2017 became a full time driver as well as the ISS Supervisor and later the Industrial Tech and Automotive teacher.
James loved spending time with his family, watching football and cheering on the Vikings, smoking anything on the grill and making BBQ , playing yard games, and having bonfires. Road trips to northern Minnesota to see all the waterfalls and hotel stays were favorite trips with his kids. He was so proud of his sons and their achievements. Becoming a grandpa to his new granddaughter Vanessa brought him great joy. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Linda.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Clint (Michelle) Simpson, Anthony Nelson, and Braeden Simpson; granddaughter Vanessa Simpson; as well as many other relatives and friends.
