JAMES L SPEERS

James “Jim” Leslie Speers, of Mora, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at the St. Clare Living Community in Mora.  He was 84 years old.

Jim was born on November 22, 1938 in Milaca, Minnesota to parents Leslie and Myrtle (Rowland) Speers.  He grew up on the family farm and attended Milaca High School, graduating in 1957.  Jim was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Richardson on January 17, 1959 and they were blessed with four children.  Jim was a hard worker and spent his career as a Mechanic working on tractors, farm equipment, and snowmobiles.  In his younger years, he worked for Wayne Rowland Implement near Bock and most recently for Dale at Heidelberger Farm Equipment near Rock Creek. 

Jim loved the outdoors.  Fishing with his Dad, mowing the grass, watching NASCAR races, and going to tractor pulls were Jim’s favorite past times.  Most of all he loved spending time with his family.  He will be dearly missed.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, son Tim, great granddaughter Kiley, brothers-in-law Bob Wiemann and Sherman Johnson.

He is survived by his children, Brent (Kay), Rob (Cheryl), and Brenda (Jay) Emerson; daughter-in-law Wendy Speers; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; siblings, Jerry Speers, Harriet (Chuck) DeBoer, and Karen (Jimmy) Schelonka; sisters-in-law, Arla Johnson and Marcy Wiemann; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the Hamilton Funeral Homes- Akkerman Chapel in Mora with Pastor Bob DeYoung officiating. Memorial Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
