JOYCE RICHARDS

Joyce L. Richards, of Isle, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho.  She was 94 years old.

Joyce Lavina was born on September 19, 1930, in Mille Lacs County, Minnesota to parents Oscar and Marget (Mikkelson) Pederson.  She graduated from Isle High School in 1948 and then worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis.  Joyce was united in marriage to Louis C. Richards and together they raised their two children on the family farm near Isle.

Joyce was active in her church, teaching Sunday school, and was a 4-H and Girl Scout leader.  She was the first secretary for the Mora Vasaloppet and held that position for many years.  She was a founding member of the Isle Food Co-op, was active in CCR, Master Gardeners, Do-Nothing Club, Christian Women, and Sons of Norway.

Joyce had many various hobbies including crocheting, knitting, sewing, creating porcelain dolls, ceramics, crafts, gardening, making maple syrup, and lefse.  She always had a dachshund companion by her side. 

Joyce and Louie had many great travel adventures with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren over the years.  Many of those travels revolved around Studebaker or Ferguson Tractor meetups.   After Louie passed, Joyce would winter with her siblings and son Brad in Arizona. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis, grandson-in-law Chad Minenko, and 5 siblings.

She is survived by her son Brad Richards, daughter Lila Richards and Bruce Bandow; grandchildren, Luke (Muffy) Bandow and Alecia Minenko; great grandchildren, Warren Minenko, Wheeler Minenko, and Jax Bandow as well as many step great grandchildren and their families; siblings, Eldon (Carol) Pederson, Adeline Anderson, and Lorraine South; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm on Friday, November 15, 2024 at the Hamilton Funeral Homes - Akkerman Chapel in Mora.

A Time of Sharing will be held at 4:00 pm.

Inurnment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in the summer of 2025.
