Judith “Judy” Skurdalsvold, of Mora, Minnesota, passed away June 6, 2024, at Mille Lacs Health Systems in Onamia. She was 79 years old.
Judy was born in Elk Mound, Wisconsin on April 29, 1945, to Ralph and Evelyn (Bettiga) Jain. She grew up in rural Wisconsin, attended Elk Mound High School and graduated in 1963. Following graduation, she moved to the Minneapolis area where she worked in insurance. Meeting her husband John, they got married in 1971 and moved to Mora, setting up home on Ann River. Her only son, Scott, was born in 1972 and the family moved into Mora, where they resided until her husband John’s passing in 2016 and ailing health required moving to a long-term care facility in 2018.
Judy started working at Mora High School in 1976 and remained there until her retirement in 2011. She had various roles in the library and later in the media center.
Judy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and spent much of her time gardening, having coffee with friends, or attending local sporting events. In retirement, Judy and John spent many days on the water boating, fishing, and picnicking, enjoying the outdoors.
Judy was preceded in death by both parents, husband John, and step-son John Skurdalsvold.
Judy is survived by her son Scott (Christy) of Mansfield, Texas; grandchildren, Sydney, Hudson, Keldan, and Rhysee; step-children, Barb, Ann, and Mark; step-grandchildren, Peter, Todd, Alec, Katie, Dan, Jennifer, and Michael; brother Richard; sisters, Karen and Sandy; niece Jennifer; nephews, Paul, Ryan and Eric; and many other relatives and friends.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm on Monday, June 17, 2024 at the Hamilton Funeral Homes- Akkerman Chapel in Mora.
Inurnment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
MEMORIALS are preferred to Alzheimer's and Dementia Research.
