Julie Ann Grafenstein, age 77, of Brook Park, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 surrounded by family.
She was born on June 11, 1947 in Minneapolis to parents Milton and Sybil (Olson) Greenwold. Julie was such a tiny preemie when she was born that her family held her on a pillow and she became their little princess and would make crowns for her. Julie attended school in Barron, Wisconsin where she graduated. After graduation, Julie became a medical transcriber which she loved doing and continued to do until she retired.
She lived in Cambridge, where she met Gale Grafenstein and they were married on June 29, 2013. They moved to Brook Park in 2019. Even though Julie was a medical transcriber, her true passion was needlepoint and traveling abroad. During her travels, she would purchase a needlepoint from the area and go to work on them when she returned. She has many finished needlepoints from her travels hanging in their home. Julie also enjoyed reading her bible in the mornings along with a variety of others books she loved. Julie was always kind to the people around her and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Julie is preceded in death by her parents Milton and Sybil and sister Joyce (Greenwold) Woldahl.
Julie is survived by her 3 children, James Church, Michael Church and Michelle Church. She is also survived by her loving husband Gale Grafenstein; step-children, Jason and Sara (Boelman) Grafenstein, Jerimy and Margaret (Gustafson) Grafenstein and Scott and Amy (Corgard) Grafenstein; brother Larry Greenwold; sister Kathryn (Greenwold) Burns as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday January 31, 2025 from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Cambridge Sidelines Bar and Grill (backroom).
