Our beloved Karla Ann Royer died unexpectedly in Mora, MN on September 14, 2022. We are absolutely grief stricken, and so thankful for her life shared with us. She was 77, having been born in St. Paul, MN on July 22, 1945, at West Side Memorial Hospital, to Carl Austin and Helen Lorraine (Knoll) Royer. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1961. She enjoyed singing and performed beautifully in a high school play. Karla was married twice, and spent years living in the Twin Cities, New York, and California. She especially treasured her time living on the farm near Morris, MN. Karla spent many years devoted to her work with a foundation (FACIM), and also enjoyed gardening, farming, cooking and baking, and spending time outdoors. She especially loved her time spent in the Boundary Waters area. We are so grateful that Karla returned home to live in MN from CA in 2021. She will be remembered for her kindness, warm laugh, hugs, independence, and inner strength.
She is preceded in death by her parents, nephew David, and sister-in-law Jane.
She is survived by her brother Joe Royer, nephew Paul Royer (Dawn), niece Janell Royer-Stoll (Sarah), great nephews Philip and Nathan, many beloved friends, and her cherished cat, Charlotte.
A celebration of life will be held from 1:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at the Riverfront Regional Park, Pavilion #1 in Fridley, MN.
