KRISTINE KRIZAN Obituary

Kristine “Kris” Krizan, of Mora, Minnesota, passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 10, 2026, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. She was 74 years old.

Kris was born on October 12, 1951, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to Stanley and Patricia (Page) Kommerstad. She grew up in the country and enjoyed a childhood filled with many happy memories alongside her brothers. On September 27, 1980, she married Roger Krizan. Together, they raised their daughter, Angela.

Kris had a lifelong love for the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening whenever possible. She often referred to her first jobs—as a hair washer in a beauty shop and a sales associate in a wig shop—as her “going up north money.” She was very familiar with places like the Gunflint Trail and the Boundary Waters and always kept a fishing pole in her vehicle, just in case. Kris was also well known for her deep love of animals, rescuing any stray or injured creature that crossed her path. This passion led her to start and operate her own pet grooming business, which she ran for many years. Later, she worked as a Beverage Supervisor at Grand Casino Hinckley until her retirement.

Kris was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Steve Kommerstad, John Fazio, and Jerry Munro, and former spouse Roger Krizan.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela (Doug Fix) Baker; grandchildren, Anna Kelling, Joel Kelling, and Silas Baker; great-granddaughter, June Desoto; brother, Jim (Cathy) Munro; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Kris' life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Lewis Lake Covenant Church with Pastor Joe Reed officiating.
