Larry Ronald Nelson, of Braham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 with his family by his side at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was 54 years old.
Larry was born on September 29, 1967 at the Kanabec State hospital in Mora, Minnesota to parents Stanley Alex and Diane (Williams) Nelson. He attended Braham High School, graduating in 1986. He attended college in Waseca, MN where he wrestled, but left school a short time later.
Larry spent most of his career as a Mason with the Bricklayer’s Union. He worked for many different employers and thoroughly loved his job in the construction trade.
Larry married the love of his life, Sherrie Prunty in 2015. Larry had four children previously, and gained Sherrie’s three children to the family. Larry and Sherrie lived in the mountains of Idaho for part of their marriage, but moved back home to Minnesota in 2018 when Larry was diagnosed with cancer again.
Larry, lovingly nicknamed the “Social Butterfly” by his wife, would make connections and friendships with almost everyone he met. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed cutting wood, and often cut and delivered wood for those in need. Larry loved drives through the country, looking at the fields of cows and smelling the fresh cut hay; and dreamed of having his own hobby farm someday. Most of all, Larry loved his family and friends. They were his greatest joy. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Larry is preceded in death by his brother Brian Nelson.
He is survived by his parents Stanley Axel and Diane; wife Sherrie; Larry’s children, Kayla, Brian, Jessica, and Dylan; Sherrie’s children, Vanessa, Mathew, and Heather; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Tristen, Amie, Madison, Harleigh, and Devin; brother Gary (Holly) Nelson; nieces, Hailey Lynn and Kirsten; bonus sister Shelly Mueller Altendorfer; brothers-in-law Dan (Tony) Prunty; as well as many other relatives and friends.
