Laurel Jean Robertson, of Mora, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. She was 76 years old.
Laurel was born on December 30, 1948, in Northwood, North Dakota to parents Earl and Helen (Albee) Toy. Laurel lived in various towns in Minnesota, Tennessee, and Georgia. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1967 and attended two years at Bethel College with an interest in theatre.
Laurel worked as the Race Coordinator for the Mora Vasaloppet ski race for 17 years. On September 13,1975, she married Curt Robertson. They met at church where her dad was the new pastor. He introduced all four daughters and noted they were all single and available. Curt was listening.
She enjoyed traveling to see her grandchildren, camping, and family gatherings. Laurel enjoyed driving cars for Mora Chev and the comradery with her fellow drivers. She loved the Christmas holiday, especially celebrating with her family. Laurel loved teaching children at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Her faith was the most important thing in her life and Laurel was always ready and willing to help family and friends. Laurel’s favorite hobby was scrapbooking. She was creating scrapbooks for each grandchild to give to them at high school graduation.
Laurel’s warmth, creativity, and love of family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Curt; children, Kari Rech (Luke Simons) and Josh (Heidi) Robertson; grandchildren, Ciriana, Sarai, Ethan, Bre, Anaya, Ethan, Ruthie, Malachi, Ty, and Abbie; siblings, Sandra (Norm) Sannes, Deborah (Ronald) Spreng, Earlene (David) Danielson, and Stephen (Janet) Toy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mora with Pastor Mike Rue officiating.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Mora and again 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
A luncheon will immediately follow the service at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
A private family Inurnment will take place at Fish Lake Cemetery.
