Leander “Lee” Evans, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge. He was 96 years old.
Lee was born in Albany, MN on October 9, 1928, the son of John and Louise Evans. He married his sweetheart, Lucille “Lucy” Zipp on June 25, 1955.
Lee proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and had a long career giving to others at the Veterans Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. He was an incredibly hard-working man, holding multiple other work positions. One of his favorite jobs was working at the Buick dealership in St. Cloud. He also held positions in San Francisco, and Lomita, CA. He worked far beyond an age most would continue working, just because he enjoyed people so much. He made friends everywhere he went, especially in abundance when living in CA.
He enjoyed gardening, recycling, playing cards and cribbage, Twins baseball, and spending time with his brothers and family. He loved Lucy with the sweetest heart and taught his children many valuable life lessons and values.
Lee is preceded by his parents; wife Lucille; son Mark; grandson Andrew; and brothers Ronnie, Les, Al, Toby, Stan, Jerry; and sister Viola.
Lee is survived by his three children, Donald (Carla) Evans of Cohasset, MN, Diane (Dennis) Norby of Mora, MN and Janet (Dave) Rivera of Richmond, TX; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A private family inurnment will be held at the Assumption and Calvary Catholic Cemetery in St. Cloud.
