LORRAINE S. KENT

Lorraine Sophia Kent, of Mora, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the Villages at St. Clares Living Community in Mora.  She was 91 years old.

Lorraine was born on June 22, 1931, in her grandparents’ home in Clark County, South Dakota to Mildred (Benike) and Ferdinand Benter. This marriage was blessed with three children.

In 1939 her mother Mildred married Harry Kent and moved to Mora.  Lorraine and her two brothers were adopted by Harry and four more children were born to the family. Lorraine attended country school district 21 and later graduated from Mora High School in 1948.

She was baptized in Bethlehem Lutheran church in Raymond, S.D and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church in Mora. During her life she was active in the church and taught Sunday School and Women’s Bible class. She was very active in LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League) where she served as an officer of the MN North District LWML and as Kettle River Zone President.  

She was united in marriage to Paul R. Kent on December 26, 1948, and they were blessed with four children. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage before Paul passed away in 2001. Lorraine enjoyed working on the farm with her husband.  She was an artist with her cake decorating,quilt designs, and flower gardening.  If you wanted to see her smile, just mention her family and grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul R., brother Warren Kent, sister Elfreida Butler, and son-in-law Hatim Carim.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Carim, Paul (Jill) Kent, Larry Kent, and Diane (John) Kent-Anderson; 9 grandchildren, Stacy (Steve), Michelle (Matthew), Kayla (Brian), Kelsey (Brian), Michael, Shakira, Kellie (Tyler), Kaelan (Alexa), and Christopher; 7 great grandchildren, Caleb, Jordan, Eliza, Paige, Harrison, Philip, and Ryker; siblings, Carl Kent, Gert (Joe) Carlson;  Lenore (Donald) Martens, Harry (Jennifer) Kent, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mora. 

Memorial Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
