LYNN OSTERMAN

Lynn Lawrence Osterman, of Mora, formerly of McGregor, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at United Hospital in St. Paul.  He was 84 years old.

Lynn was born on September 11, 1940, in Brainerd, Minnesota to Lawrence and Doris (Gatz) Osterman. He was the oldest sibling of Keith and Marilyn. Lynn grew up in McGregor and attended McGregor School, graduating in 1958. He then entered the Army, where he attained the rank of Sergeant. After his honorable discharge, Lynn married Karen Eller of McGregor. He then attended the State Trooper Academy and, upon graduation, served as a Sergeant on the State Patrol from July 1966 until his retirement in July 1996. Lynn's career brought him to Mora, where he raised his family and embraced his passion for the outdoors.

In 2003, Lynn married Nancy Nelson. They took to traveling to the West and shared a love for horses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and conservation efforts. Many of his days were spent working on the farm. He also cherished his daily coffee gatherings with the guys at Freddie’s.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Doris (Gatz) Osterman, son John Paul, brother Keith, and sister-in-law Doris Nelson.

He is survived by his wife Nancy; children, Larry (Amy), Jackie, Randi Andres (TJ), Rick (Michaela); grandchildren, Kurtis, Luke (Amanda), Drew, Emma (Wyatt), Abby, Faith, and Izzy; great granddaughter Vienna; sister Marilyn (Byron) Stahl; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barb Osterman, Rollie Nelson, and Kenny (Rosemary) Nelson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mora with Pastor Bob DeYoung officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 pm on Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Hamilton Funeral Homes - Akkerman Chapel in Mora AND again 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Military Honors will be provided by the Mora American Legion Post 201

A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at church.

Graveside Service and Interment will be held 2:15pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Round Lake Presbyterian Cemetery near McGregor.
