Lynne Ann Nilson, of Ogilvie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, surrounded by family at her home. She was 75 years old.
Lynne was born on July 11, 1950, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents Everett and Jean (Scavo) Smith. She grew up in North Minneapolis. She married Richard Hoffman in 1970 and was blessed with four daughters Kari, Heather, Tawnya, and Danielle. They later divorced.
On September 15, 1991, she met Mark Nilson through a mutual friend. He took her on a motorcycle ride, and the rest was history. In 1994 she and daughter Danielle moved to Ogilvie and spent the rest of her life there. On March 27, 2004, Lynn and Mark were married.
Lynne spent most of her life helping others through her work in health care with the state of Minnesota group homes, nursing homes, and one-on-one private care for handicapped people. She loved her work and was always thinking of others.
Lynne always enjoyed taking motorcycle trips to a new destination, going to different cabins in the summer for vacations, and numerous trips to Branson. Most recently she loved going for rides in the country to get out of the house (especially in the convertible). She enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grand kids, and great grand kids, they were the light of her life.
She had a great love for the many dogs she had over the years (especially her beloved basset hound Ryder and lab Harley).
She was able to enjoy one last ride in the country on August 31st by going to the White Pine threshing show and riding around in the side by side before coming home for supper on the deck.
Lynne was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gary, Timothy, and David; and grandson Cole Bjerkness.
She is survived by her husband Mark; children, Kari Hoffman (Mike), Heather (Troy) VanWagner, Tawnya (Joe) Skaj, and Danielle (Ken) Aas; grandchildren, Angelia, Shawnee, Kayla, Zachary (Amber), Kendra, Averie, Ryan, Benjamin, and Victoria; great grandchildren, Petra, Raina, Brooklyn, and Arya; brothers Daniel, Patrick, and Alan; many step-children, step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Kennedi and Chelsey from St. Croix Hospice for all their help the last 16 months as well as the entire incredible St. Croix Hospice staff. Their compassion and care is second to none. And a special thanks to Tina for all of her help.
Lynne has donated her body to the Mayo Department of Clinical Anatomy for education and will be cremated.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 12, 2025 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ogilvie.
Memorial Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church, beginning at 10:00 am.
