MARGARET HILL Obituary

Margaret Louise Hill, of Mora, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at her home.  She was 96 years old.

Margaret was born on March 28, 1928, in Winona, Minnesota to parents Edwin and Martha (Wirt) Radatz.  She graduated from Lewiston High School before attending the Kahler Methodist School of Nursing in Rochester, MN where she received her training as a Registered Nurse. During her nursing career, Margaret worked as  Pediatric Head Nurse at North Memorial Hospital, was the school “Nurse Hill” to all the kids at Birch Grove School, and finally elder care at the St. Therese Nursing Home.

Margaret was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Hill on August 16, 1952, in Lewiston, Minnesota.  They lived for 33 years in Brooklyn Center where they raised their 2 children, Judy and Jim. In 1987, they moved to Lewis Lake in Kanabec County where they enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.  Kenneth passed away in March of 2004.   

Over the years, Margaret was a member of the True Vine Lutheran church in Mora and Lewis Lake Covenant Church.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 70 years and received the American Legion Award and the WCCO Good Neighbor Award.  She enjoyed being a part of the Birthday Club and volunteering at One More Time in the library section. She spent her final years at the Park Forest Apartments in Mora where she led a Bible Study for friends and neighbors. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, sister-in-law Gertrude Radatz.

She is survived by her children, Judith (Daniel) Claremboux, James (Melissa) Hill; grandchildren, Dayna (Dan) Stellrecht, Jacob Hill (Abi), Crystal (Matt) Hall, and Tessa Hill (Weylan); great grandchildren, K.Cee (Michelle), Kodee, Kori (Dustin), Sydney, Brook, Mayce, Presley, Colter, Ella, Kristy, Piper, Coby, and Gino; great great grandchildren, Aura and Nia; brother Philip Radatz; many nieces, nephews, and a large extended loving family of church and fraternal sisters and brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Lewis Lake Covenant Church in rural Ogilvie. 

Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Hamilton Funeral Homes- Akkerman Chapel in Mora and again 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in the Lewis Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  

A Luncheon will follow the services at the church.

Memorials are preferred to: The Lewis Lake Covenant Church or to the M. Josephine Rusham Scholarship Fund (Eastern Star)
