Marjorie Marie (Strand) Maas, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Edgemont Place in Blaine. She was 94 years old.
Marjorie was born on December 18, 1927 in Grass Lake Township in Kanabec County, Minnesota to Julius and Anna Strand. Marjorie grew up in rural Braham and graduated from Braham High School in 1946.
Following graduation, Marjorie moved to Michigan and was employed by the Pontiac Division of General Motors for one year. She returned to Minnesota and did office work at Airco Corporation in Minneapolis at which time she renewed her friendship with the love of her life, Howard, when he returned from the War.
Marjorie & Howard were united in Marriage on March 6, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Brunswick. Marjorie and Howard resided in Minneapolis where they had their first child, Jim. The family moved to Shakopee, Minnesota where Howard opened Maas Auto Body. While residing in Shakopee, two of their daughters were born, Sandy and Kathy. In 1959, Howard accepted a position with Allstate Insurance Company at which time the family moved to Duluth, Minnesota. Their third daughter, Barbara, was born in Duluth. In 1965, the family moved to Brooklyn Park, Minnesota when Howard transferred to Minneapolis with Allstate Insurance.
While raising their children, Marjorie provided for her family with her love and skills by sewing the girls their holiday dresses, cooking, baking, and canning. She loved to entertain and always wanted people to come to her home.
After Howard’s retirement in 1986, Marjorie and Howard traveled and built their retirement home on Ann Lake in Ogilvie, Minnesota. After Howard passed away in 2002, Marjorie remained in her home and was blessed to make new friendships with some very special people who became a very significant part of her life where she was able to continue to do the things she loved; fishing, gardening, entertaining and playing cards. Marjorie moved back to Brooklyn Park in 2017 to an apartment where she was closer to her children. In April 2020, after Covid broke out, Marjorie opted to move in with her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Rosanne, where she resided until September 1, 2022 when she moved to Edgemont Place to receive more care for her declining health.
Marjorie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was very caring and loved to help care for others. She is now with the Lord dancing to polka music with Howard. She will be dearly missed and remain in our hearts forever.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her mother Anna (Pangerl) Strand, father Julius Strand, step-mother Amy Strand; husband Howard, siblings, Alice, Harold, Carl, Hilmer and Peter, Jan, William, Betty Lou, Mary Ann, and Kenneth.
