Marlys R. Henschel, age 91, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022.
Marlys Ruth Ringer was born on March 2, 1931 to George and Ida (Scharnikow) Ringer and was the 7th of 8 children. She grew up in the Rush City, MN area. Marlys married Joseph Henschel on May 24, 1954 and together they raised three daughters: Patty, Laurie and Becky.
Together with Joe’s parents they operated a business in Ogilvie MN for 50 years. Iterations of the business were a meat processing/locker plant, grocery store and a combination of the two. Marlie was a fabulous seamstress, sewing most of the clothing for her three girls including formal wear and wedding attire. She had a lifelong interest in plants and gardening and, at times, grew vegetables, flowers and even had a greenhouse where she grew and sold African violets among other plants. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed her family and all their activities.
She recently resided at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Cloquet, MN where she had many interests, including playing Bingo and Cribbage.
Marlie is survived by her daughters, Patty Henschel, Becky (Steve) Caley, and Laurie Krulc; grandchildren, Aaron, Hilary and Shana Krulc; and great grandchildren, Audreyana and Lavontae Thornton as well as one sister, Myrtle (Bill) Munns.
