Marvin Howard Simons, of Mora, formerly of Ogilvie, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the St. Clare Living Community in Mora. He was 85 years old.
Marvin was born in Elysian, Minnesota on May 13, 1939, to Howard and Olive (Clarke) Simons. He attended school in Mora and graduated in 1957.
Marvin initially worked in construction at William Hadskins & Sons before enrolling in school to become a machinist, earning his degree in 1965. He worked as a machinist at 3M for 37 years. While employed at 3M, he received a recognition award in May 1996 for his work on the Continuous Motion Valve Attachment Mechanism as part of the Equipment Engineering & Fabrication Services.
After his time at 3M, Marvin spent 11 years working in the housekeeping department at Grand Hinckley Casino.
He met Marlene Kulyas on her family’s farm, north of Quamba, and they fell in love. They were married on July 5, 1969, at the Nazarene Church in Mora. In June 2019, Marvin and Marlene moved to the St. Clare Assisted Living where he spent his final years.
Marvin had a fondness for horses, goats, and farming. Fishing was a favorite pastime throughout the years. He enjoyed trips to the casino with Marlene to gamble and visit with old coworkers and friends. May his memory be a blessing.
