Mary Alice Evenson, of Mora, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Rushseba Station in Rush City. She was 88 years old.
Mary was born on March 3, 1936, in Hutchinson, Minnesota to parents Louis and Helen (Kuras) Hoffman. She graduated from Stewart High School on May 28th, 1954.
Following her graduation, Mary worked as a waitress at Hillcrest Resort in Ogilvie where she met Richard Frank Evenson. They were united in marriage on January 7, 1956, in Orlando, Florida
following a short courtship. The couple spent the early years of their marriage between Florida and the Twin Cities area before settling in Mora.
Mary enjoyed dancing, fishing, and family gatherings; and had a special place in her heart for her pets, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She held various jobs throughout her lifetime. The more recent positions being with Roehlke Hardware, and Mora Public Schools. The opportunity to interact with the children made her job with the schools especially enjoyable.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard; brothers, Wallace, Robert, and Richard Hoffman.
She is survived by her children, Carrie Knutson, Rickie (Shelley) Evenson, Laurie (David) Lorence, Kimmie (James) Leschak, Randie (Joelle) Evenson, and Trixie (Lance) Dalbey; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; siblings, Louise (Laird) Mork, Antonia (Dean) Dickenson, Beverly Haapoja, Henry Hoffman, and Linda Huf; sisters-in-law, Sally, Betty, and Janelle Evenson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 19, 2024 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mora.

Memorial Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Inurnment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
A luncheon will follow the services.
