MELISSA CLOUGH

Melissa A. (Oxberry) Clough, of Mora, was called home with her loving husband William Clough after a tragic motorcycle accident near Paynesville, MN on Sunday, May 21, 2023.  She was 49 years old.

Melissa Anne was born on January 24, 1974, at St. Mary’s hospital in Duluth, MN to parents James and Sandra (Relander) Oxberry.  She spent her formative years in Silver Bay where her parents worked for a local mining company. Encountering hard economic times, the family moved to Mora in 1986 where they set down new roots in a loving, caring community. Melissa graduated from Mora High School in 1992 as a Mustang. She attended college at University of Wisconsin Superior, Anoka-Ramsey in Cambridge, and St. Cloud State, graduating with a degree in Psychology.

Melissa was blessed with two children, Benjamin (24) and Anna (21), with her first husband Jake Weinreich. For the past seventeen years, Melissa worked for Thrivent Financial in Mora where she was known as a kind and gentle soul, always available to listen to a person in need.

On July 30, 2022, Melissa was united in marriage to William “Bill” Clough in Las Vegas.  She and Bill spent their time together fishing, watching the MN Vikings, and riding motorcycle. Melissa also enjoyed cooking and had mastered her Cuban pulled pork recipe on the Traeger grill.  She was an avid reader and loved her book club conversations.  She loved to play bingo.  She enjoyed traveling, especially trips with her sister Angela to Alaska; Ecuador with Anna; and motorcycle day trips with Bill and her parents. 

 Melissa was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving on the church council and women’s group.  Most of all, Melissa loved her family.  Her children were her pride and joy, and she wholeheartedly supported them in all their endeavors.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Melissa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Aili and Vernon Relander, John and Beth Oxberry; aunts, Amy Oxberry and Victoria Danley.

She is survived by her parents Jim and Sandie Oxberry; children, Ben Weinreich and Anna Weinreich; sister Angela (Travis) Hanson; nieces, Isabella, Sophia, and Josephine Hanson, Shelby and Kaitlynn Reynolds; great niece Isla; Bill's Family: parents James and Karen (Kramer) Clough; children, Spencer Bauer (Sabina Salian); Josef Clough, and Alli Clough; sisters, Maureen (Thomas) Kennedy and Karina O'Mara; nephew Mick O'Mara and niece Kaylie O'Mara; other relatives and many friends.

A Memorial Service for Melissa and Bill will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Mora with Pastor Gary Guptill officiating.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon- 2:00 pm on Saturday at the church.
