Merideth Ann (Johnson) Coleman, a lifelong resident of Braham and a woman of profound faith and kindness, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the age of 68. Her passing followed a courageous journey navigating the lingering consequences of multiple strokes.
A Life Rooted in Home
Born on June 1, 1957, to H. Curtis and Winnifred Johnson, Merideth was a daughter of the Braham soil. Aside from a few short years, she spent her entire life on the very land that was part of her parents’ family’s farm—a place that grounded her and held her dearest memories.
A graduate from the Braham school district, Merideth dedicated the majority of her professional life to the children of her community. As a longtime paraprofessional for the Braham schools, she offered patience and guidance to countless students, leaving an indelible impact on generations of local families.
Faith and Family
Merideth’s life was a living testament to her faith. A devoted fourth-generation member of the Braham Evangelical Covenant Church, she was known by all as a woman who truly exuded the "fruits of the spirit": love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self-control.
Her greatest joy was her family. She was a loving wife to her husband, Bill, and a devoted mother to her sons, Josh and John. Her favorite days were those spent at Cass Lake, where decades of summers were filled with fishing, swimming, and the simple joy of being together. Whether she was baking in her kitchen, cheering loudly during a football game, or doting on her beloved grandchildren, her presence was a source of warmth and steady light.
Legacy and Survivors
She was preceded in death by her parents, H. Curtis and Winnifred Johnson, her brother Bruce Johnson, and her cousin Julie.
Merideth is survived by her loving husband, William Coleman; sons Joshua Coleman (Hanna) and John Coleman (Jessica); granddaughters Bae and Iris; brother David Johnson; sister Iverne Sutton; and by many other relatives and friends.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." — Galatians 5:22-23
