Muriel Ann (Thomazin) Blesi passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Eastwood Senior Living in Mora, MN surrounded by her family. She was 73 years old.
Muriel was born on July 15, 1950, in Princeton, Minnesota to parents Gordon and Ruth (Snyder) Thomazin.
Her purpose on this Earth was to be a caretaker and love (without conditions, she would add) everyone and anything that crossed her path in need of it. Jesus told her to love her neighbor as she loved herself and she decided to take it a step farther and love them more. Animals and children were her favorite. Adults . . . a little less so. That said, she never met a being in need, she didn’t want to nurse back to health. Whether it was a cat needing its ear sewn back on, countless baby cows and birds, or a broken trucker that wrapped a car around a tree, she would take them in and get them back on their feet. The harder the case, the harder she loved.
She held many jobs and titles through the years. Farming, raising birds, and taking care of adults with disabilities were some she was most proud of. However, being a mother was her favorite job until she found being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She would say the first baby she raised was her little brother Mark starting when she was 11. In 1967, she married Harry "Buster" Blesi and began raising her own. Tammy, Richard, Ella, and George were the first to fill her house along with many cousins and neighbor kids followed by 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Status and things meant nothing to her (except maybe chocolate and ice cream). Her faith and her family were always her highest priorities. When her house emptied, she filled her time volunteering, sewing warm items for the homeless, and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Michael and Mark Thomazin; nephews, Walt and Matthew Thomazin.
She is survived by her former spouse Harry Blesi; children, Tammy (Joseph) Owens, Richard Blesi, Ella (Lee) Stenstrom, and George (Brita) Blesi; 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brother Marshall (Becky) Thomazin; sister Nancy (Pat) Arnold; many other relatives and friends.
