Randy Lee Osterdyk, of Mora, peacefully passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, at his home surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with cancer. He was 70 years old.
Randy was born on December 1, 1954, in Braham, Minnesota, to Garrett and Anna (Weidnaar) Osterdyk. He grew up on a dairy farm near Brunswick, the youngest seven children. Randy attended Coin and Mora schools until his parents moved to Long Prairie, where he graduated from high School.
A few years later, Garrett, Anna and Randy moved to a farm near Warman where they milked cows and raised beef. After his father passed away, Randy continued to help his mother run the farm while working as a self-employed contractor, focusing on construction, concrete work, roofing, and building sheds and garages. Randy was a constant and compassionate caregiver to his mother Anna until she passed away in 2012.
Randy and Cher were united in marriage in August of 2020 and enjoyed the life they built together.
He enjoyed truck pulls, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, painting birdhouses, and feeding his birds in his spare time. A dedicated Minnesota Vikings fan, Randy always cheered for his team, proudly wearing purple and painting everything around his home Vikings purple. He will be dearly missed.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William "Bill" and John, as well as his nephew, Greg May.
He is survived by his loving wife Cher; siblings, Elsie (Richard) Gossen, Dottie (John) Kyllo, Gertie (Lloyd) Peterson, and Garry (Sue) Osterdyk; his special friends, Zach, Willie, Dave, and Joe; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family of Randy Osterdyk would like to express their sincere gratitude to St. Croix Hospice, along with Randy’s cousin Gloria and the many caregivers, for their compassionate and dedicated care.
A Celebration of Randy’s Life will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Kev’s Depot in Mora. Food and Beverages are at your discretion.
