ROBERT "Bob" MORK

Robert “Bob” Joseph Mork of Mora, Minnesota passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by his family.  He was 86 years old.

Bob was born on November 12, 1935 in Thief River Falls, MN to Joseph and Penelle (Sogn) Mork.  His early years were spent with his family in Milaca, MN. He graduated from Milaca High School and then attended St Olaf College, Northfield, MN. He later got his master degree from NDSU in Fargo, ND.  He taught school for several years and was the high school principal in Glyndon, MN where he met his wife, Sharon Larson.  They were married July 11, 1963.  In 1967 the family moved to Mora and Bob acquired the State Farm Insurance agency.  Bob enjoyed serving his customers and the community of Mora.  He took great pride in his business and his relationships with his customers and friends.

In 1997, Bob retired and spent a great deal of time on the Spring Brook Golf Course, purchasing a home on the course was one of the best decisions he made.  Winning the Senior Golf Club Championship was a true joy for Bob.  He enjoyed daily coffee and regularly scheduled meals out with friends.  He was part of a Wednesday night men’s night out which he rarely missed unless he was out of town.  Bob was an avid sports fan; he loved attending professional sporting events, watching the Minnesota Twins, the Lynx, and various golfing events.  Since retirement, Bob and Sharon spent 6 months each year at their winter home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Bob enjoyed the theater, golfing, special friends, dining out and other celebrations in Lake Havasu City.  He and Sharon were also able to enjoy many trips visiting family and friends along with various trips overseas, the river cruise was a favorite.  Bob, a force of nature, was always quick to offer a word (or two) of advice.  He enjoyed sharing his wisdom and helping others.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother David Mork, and sister Dorothy Monger. 

Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon; son Randy; daughter Renee and her husband Scott along with their three children, Jared, Jamie and Carrie Hall; sister-in-law Jean (Guy) Maracle; and many nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends 

The family requests donations be made to Calvary Lutheran Church or the Mora Food Pantry. Bob was a generous man who cared about many causes and people.  Bob wanted everyone to know he was blessed with a wonderful life.  His life was filled with beautiful family, wonderful friends and love.  He loved being a part of the Mora community.
