ROLLO ZUFALL Obituary

Rollo Dean Zufall “Pops”, “Grandpa” tipped his hat to this world for the last time on June 10, 2025, just three days after celebrating his 93rd birthday. Born on June 7, 1932, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Rollo lived a full life that balanced grit, humor, and heart. He spent his years in the Twin Cities before retiring to Mora, Minnesota, where he always had a long list of projects to complete and even longer stories to tell.

Rollo was a true cowboy at heart, a man who believed in working hard, walking fast, and never sitting still. He was always fixing things, building things, or teaching someone else how to do it themselves. Summers with Rollo often turned into boot camp for his kids and grandkids. He had a knack for picking the hottest, sweatiest days of the year to chop down trees, split wood, and stack it high for winter. What nobody realized at the time was that those hot, sticky days of hard labor were Rollo’s way of teaching his kids to work together, laugh through the sweat, and build memories that would last a lifetime.

He was a man of adventure and passion, whether he was casting a line to catch his next big fish, heading west for gold mining, or trekking to Montana for a hunting trip. He was always ready for a card game, a quick comeback, or a funny story, and his humor kept everyone laughing, even when they were on the receiving end of one of his jokes. His favorite saying, “Move it,” wasn’t just a command, it was a philosophy.

Though he could seem a little grumpy on the outside, those who knew him best understood that beneath the tough exterior was a man overflowing with kindness and generosity. Rollo wouldn’t hesitate to help a friend, or even a stranger, in need.

Rollo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he met his first wife, SoonJah. Later, he retired as an underwriter from State Farm Insurance, where he built lifelong friendships and a legacy of hard work and community. After retirement he met and married his current wife, Barbara (Stream) Zufall.

He leaves behind a family who will never forget the lessons, the laughs, and the love he gave them; his current wife, Barb; children: Chris (Jenna) and their daughters, Ciana and Malaina; Lisa (Dan) and their children, Angela (Marshall), Nick (Amanda), Marina, great-granddaughter Selena, and Sam; Nadine (Mike) and their son, Jared; and step-daughter Nicole (Greg) and her child, Brittany and great-granddaughter Skyler, and step-son Mark and his children, Shelby, Norris and Avery; sister, Karen; former wife, SoonJah; many other relatives and friends.

He reunites in the great beyond with his parents, James and Geniveve (Hughes) Zufall; his brother, Roger; stepson, Cory, grandson Joshua, and his loyal companion, his beloved dog Reba.

Rollo will be remembered as a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and lived life on his own terms. Whether he was adventuring in the wild, taking friends and family to his favorite fishing spot, or cracking a joke at the dinner table, he had a way of creating memories that will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

A Celebration of Rollo’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Hamilton Funeral Homes- Akkerman Chapel in Mora.
